In 1944 Frank Haas joined John Kristensen and formed a new company called “Haskris”. They started out as a mechanical contracting firm providing service and installation of refrigeration equipment in Chicago.
Twelve years later, in 1956, a global manufacturer of electron optics introduced an electron microscope to North America. They contacted Frank Haas, a well-respected mechanical engineer, to design a water chiller to support this new technology. The first Haskris water chiller was born.
As new players entered the electron optics industry, Haskris became the chiller supplier of choice. The combination of custom design capabilities, product reliability, precision control and intensive after-sale support set Haskris apart from the competition. Today, Haskris supplies chillers to support the most powerful electron microscopes in the world.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Haskris was approached by the x-ray industry to design custom chiller solutions for their newly introduced materials analysis technologies. Similar to the electron optics industry, Haskris worked in partnership with each major OEM in this field and currently supplies over 90% of the industry in North America.
From the late 1980s through the early 2000’s, Haskris’ reputation caught the attention of other emerging technologies in the medical, research and materials analysis industries. Working collaboratively with the manufacturers of MRI, LINAC, NMR, EPR, ICP-MS, FTMS, NDT and Lasers, Haskris brought forth decades of design experience to develop the most advanced and reliable water chillers for applications that so critically depend upon them.
Today, Haskris remains true to the mission that began in 1956 — Serving OEMs of high tech instruments through a combination of state-of-the-art design, high quality manufacturing and attentive support.
