Transforming a Two-Chiller “Workaround” into an Efficient One Chiller Solution

Problem:
As an OEM of the world’s premier imaging equipment for scientific research, this customer’s highly specialized equipment requires:
- Monitoring and control of the water chemistry, including deionization, particle filtration and de-oxygenation.
- Two water circuits maintained at two different temperatures and is sold globally, requiring 50/60Hz operation.
To meet these unique specifications, the OEM was forced to buy two different chillers and connect them together in the field. But the complex fluid circuit required special materials of construction and special fittings, so this workaround solution resulted in chronic leaks in the field – and higher costs.
Solution:
Haskris designed one chiller solution that incorporated all the required functions into one packaged system. This design included dual refrigeration systems, one DC and one AC, to achieve multiple temperature set points. We developed a water chemistry system that included a sealed tank with nitrogen purge feature, de-I, de-O and particle filtration, each with monitoring and control.
Our chiller solution eliminated the chronic leak problem, cut required floor space in half, and significantly reduced costs from the prior two-chiller workaround approach.
